Curiosity is itself a curious thing, it's value highly underestimated. When asked what keeps Fabien motivated, essentially being curious seems to do the trick — the will and wish to always do and be better, to go the extra mile, master his skills and keep a fresh eye, that's what curiosity looks like to him.
"But you know, motivation also comes from wanting to push my work to a different level of intimacy, to become meaningful and not just a “outdoor photograph” like so many, a term I don’t really identify nor connect with."
Fabien Voileau is no stranger to many, spending his time in thirds — one in Paris, one in Auckland and the other somewhere on the road, almost always a new place. This years itinerary already looking much the same with trips planned to Lebanon, Sweden, Scotland, Guadeloupe Island, France and Tahiti.
"I never really wished to be a photographer, to me it always looked impossible and almost silly to think of becoming one. And one day, I arrived in Paris and this city no matter how difficult and incredible it can be made me understand that nothing was actually impossible."
